THE HARBOR
ARTISTS
RESIDENCY
A week of protected creative time for artists whose work deserves room to grow.
Making a record takes more than equipment. It takes time, space, focus, and the freedom to follow an idea wherever it leads.
WHY WE CREATED THIS
The Harbor Artist Residency was created to give artists that opportunity.
Each season, Harbor Studios will invite one selected artist or group to spend a complimentary week in our Red Hook recording studio. The residency is for artists with a clear creative vision who would benefit from focused time in a professional recording environment.
There is no required format and no single definition of success. The purpose is simple: to create room for meaningful work.

Preparation Without Pressure
A COLLABORATIVE PROCESS
The residency is intentionally open-ended, but thoughtful preparation allows the artist to make the most of the week while still leaving room for experimentation and unexpected discoveries.
Before the residency begins, we will spend time understanding the artist’s goals, listening to the material, and identifying any technical or logistical needs.

Tell us about your music, your current project, and what a focused week could make possible.

WHO SHOULD APPLY
Artists with a point of view
We welcome submissions from solo artists, bands, songwriters, and collaborative projects.
We are looking for artists with a meaningful body of work, a clear creative intention, and a sense of how a focused week in the studio could help move the project forward.
We are especially interested in artists with the drive and vision to create something distinctive who may not otherwise have easy access to this kind of recording environment.
